Rather than email, you may prefer customers to send a message via WhatsApp. This can now be placed on your Goolge Business Profile and website. WhatsApp’s “Click to Chat” feature allows users to initiate a chat with someone without needing to save their phone number in their address book. This is done by using a special link that can be shared to open a chat window directly in the WhatsApp app or web version.
Here’s how it works and how to create a Click to Chat link:
How it works:
Direct Chat:
A user clicks a “Click to Chat” link, and it opens a chat window on their phone or WhatsApp web with the specified WhatsApp number.
No Saved Contacts Needed:
Neither the user nor the recipient needs to save each other’s phone number in their contacts to start the chat.
Predefined Message:
You can even add a pre-filled message to the link, so the recipient can easily start a conversation.
How to create a Click to Chat link:
Start with the Base URL: The basic format is https://wa.me/.
Add the Phone Number: Append your WhatsApp phone number to the base URL, without any special characters or spaces, including the country code.
Example: https://wa.me/441234567890 (This example uses a fictional UK number).
Add a Predefined Message (Optional): You can add a question mark (?) followed by the text parameter (text=) to include a message.
Example: https://wa.me/+441234567890?text=Hello,%20I%20would%20like%20to%20know%20more%20about%20your%20services. (This adds a message like “Hello, I would like to know more about your services.”)
Where to Use:
Website: You can easily add the link to buttons, images, or text on your website.
Ads: Meta and other platforms offer “Click to Chat” ad formats.
Emails: You can include the link in your email signatures or promotions
